At Balav, we believe fashion isn’t just about beautiful clothing—it’s about the people who bring those designs to life. While the spotlight often shines on designers and campaigns, there’s a team behind the scenes that deserves just as much recognition.
From expert tailors to embroidery artisans and studio caretakers, these are the real hands behind every piece. This post is our tribute to them—the ones who stitch, shape, and support our brand every single day.
1. Kavita Aunty – The Hand Embroidery Expert Who Knows Everyone
Superpower: Speed, precision, and social savvy
- Specializes in intricate hand embroidery, finishing each piece with care and speed
- Known for her friendly, chatty nature and fluency in Bihari (she frequently says “ethi”& we still don’t know what it means)
- Has built strong relationships with local vendors, thanks to her warm personality
- Fiercely confident, she brings a sense of community and protection to our studio
Why she matters: Kavita Aunty brings both artistry and people power to Balav. Her presence keeps the work flowing and the vibe joyful. Also, nobody can mess with us. Thanks to aunty!
2. Masterji – The Team master Who Never Says No
Superpower: Unshakable optimism (and excellent biryani via his wife)
- A skilled tailoring & pattern cutting expert who takes on complex designs with a positive attitude
- Rarely says “no,” even when a pattern is challenging, he believes everything can be figured out
- Brings patience and reliability to every production cycle
- Bonus: his wife’s chicken biryani is a studio-wide favorite
Why he matters: Masterji represents resilience and quiet leadership. His willingness to try (and succeed) is what keeps Balav moving forward.
3. Tanuja Aunty – The Lightning-Fast Studio Keeper
Superpower: Silent efficiency
- Cleans and resets the studio each day with minimal disruption
- Works so quickly and quietly that we often don’t realize she’s been there, until the space is spotless
- Her presence creates a calm, clean environment for everyone to work in
- (Confession: we joke about how we keep forgetting to pay her salary on time because she moves like the wind & we’re working on that!)
Why she matters: Tanuja Aunty reminds us that no task is too small. Without her care, the studio wouldn’t feel like home.
Why We’re Sharing This?
In the fashion industry, the focus is usually on the final garment but every piece has a journey. And that journey is built by people like Kavita Aunty, Masterji, and Tanuja Aunty.
They don’t seek recognition. But they deserve it.
At Balav, we’re proud to celebrate the real humans behind our handcrafted fashion because this is what ethical, people-first fashion truly looks like.
