Art That Grows On You: When Fashion Meets Imagination

What happens when a Fashion label hands over its products to a visual artist with 100% Creative Freedom ?

Magic.

But also… moss boots, pocket folders, and a garden growing out of our suede shirt.

We teamed up with visual artist Niloni Pomal, and instead of a typical campaign, she gave us a visual journal – raw, playful, and deeply emotional. A reminder that art doesn’t always belong in galleries. Sometimes, it belongs in your wardrobe.

📁 1. THE PANT THAT HOLDS YOUR WHOLE LIFE

Our multi-pocket utility pants were reimagined by Niloni as a digital desktop , complete with floating folders labelled “Pocket 2,” “More Pocket,” “And More,” and “Pocket 12 atp.” It’s satire. It’s accurate.
Because the average Balav wearer isn’t minimalist. They’re over prepared, overstimulated, and carrying 6 projects and a trauma response at all times.

Niloni didn’t just see the pants as fashion. She saw them as a metaphor. For mental tabs, memory files, and the need to carry more than just keys and gum.

2. THE KITCHEN INSTALLATION:  LUXURY STARTS AT HOME

In another striking piece, Niloni stood in a classic Indian kitchen, holding an oversized print of the very outfit she wore , a full-circle moment between object and image, space and self.

No maximal styling, no excessive lighting. Just an honest frame. Because what is luxury, really, if not the ability to create art with what’s around you?

3. THE SUEDE SHIRT THAT GREW A GARDEN

Our Balav suede shirt became the canvas for two wildly expressive, handcrafted artworks.

In one, Niloni builds moss boots straight out of fantasy – a model rooted to the earth, literally. The contrast between grounded green and deep brown suede makes it look like the forest itself claimed her as one of its own.

In another, she creates a lush flower bouquet that blooms from the chest , a symbol of how art, when held close, can be soft, bold, and alive all at once. Its absurd. It’s poetic. It’s everything we want fashion to be.

So… Why Did We Do This?

Because at Balav, we’re not just making clothes. We’re building tools for self-expression, pieces that make you feel seen even in the chaos. Especially in the chaos.

Niloni’s work reminded us of something we believe deeply: Fashion isn’t just visual. It’s visceral. Its emotional function. It’s personal rebellion. It’s your inner world worn out loud.

And most importantly – You don’t need an art gallery, a glossy studio, or a billion-dollar production to be taken seriously. Everything you need is already under your nose. Find art and luxury in what’s around. Because it’s people who make it big.
